One year ago, we were in Cherokee North Carolina on a school trip when we got word the mom had died. After that we had figured that mom would be happiest being scattered to the wind. I thought at the time that Clingman’s Dome, being the highest point in the Smokies, would be an appropriate place for her ashes.
This year we returned on the same school trip and I took the ashes up the mountain and scattered them off a beautiful ledge pictured below. It was a windy day which seemed totally appropriate.
Rest in peace, Mom, as we commemorate one year.
